HEA Safety Advisory Service (HEA SAS)
Providing peace of mind in health and safety advice

HEA SAS is an exclusive service, providing expert health and safety advice. The service is designed for SME businesses and aims to provide our members with more time to focus on their day to day activities, with the confidence that industry experts are handling their health and safety administration. The service includes:

  • An initial visit and review of all health and safety policy documentation
  • Creation/production of a new policy, based on our tried and tested template, bespoke for each organisation. Once approved this will be the document adhered to
  • An annual visit and review of all health and safety policy documentation and incidents
  • Evidence of regular reviews of health and safety systems
  • HEA SAS Certification

Highway Electrical Skills Academy (HESA)
Assuring standards in trainers and training delivery

The Highway Electrical Skills Academy (HESA) has agreed on a system for approving training organisations and trainers within the highway electrical industry. HESA also oversees the approval and quality assurance of the training courses delivered under the Highway Electrical Training Specification.

Highway Electrical Risk Management Insurance Services (HERMIS)

HERMIS, provided by BHIB insurance brokers, are the leading insurance broker within the highway electrical sector. Through HERMIS our members have access to exclusive insurance schemes placed with the Electrical Contractors Insurance Company (ECIC). This allows our members to benefit from both significant premium savings and the policy benefits associated with an insurance scheme.

HEA Electrical Inspection Service (HEA EIS)
Assuring standards in highway electrical installation

The HEA Electrical Inspection Service (HEA EIS) is an independent audit of organisational capability and individual competence. HEA members certified to the HEA EIS must demonstrate they meet the highest standards in electrical safety management, electrical installation, maintenance and inspection activities. Experienced, independent and knowledgeable industry professionals carry out audits, which cover the following:

  • Quality Management System certification
  • Essential insurances
  • Organisational and individual competences through the HEA / NHSS 8 / HERS audits
  • Access to technical documents and regulations
  • Scope of works, information capture and the processing and retention of records
  • Test instruments and the calibration process and records traceable to National Standards
  • Individual under-pinning up to date knowledge and competency
  • Sample audits of installations carried out including complete reviews of paperwork and records and an assessment on site of the standard of works

Following the satisfactory completion of the HEA EIS audit, a certificate will be issued.
