The Highway Electrical Skills Academy (HESA) with the support of the associated sectors reports to the Sector Scheme Advisory Committee for NHSS 8 relating to the Overseeing and / or Installation and / or Maintenance of Highway Electrical Equipment and supporting Works.
The Highway Electrical Skills Academy (HESA) is responsible for The Highway Electrical Training Specification that provides the required level of underpinning knowledge training standards for the Highway Electrical Registration Scheme.
The Highway Electrical Skills Academy (HESA), whilst working with its key partners and with the Approved Training Organisations continually review and improve the level of training provision for the sector.
The detailed specification for each of the Highway Electrical sectors is contained in the Highway Electrical Training Specification. These specifications have been designed to provide the minimum underpinning Knowledge requirements of the relevant Competency Based Qualification (CBQ-NVQ) on site assessments. (Noting CBQ/NVQ is not training, it is an assessment of skills and knowledge within the workplace to current standards).
The Highway Electrical Training Specification is a mandatory requirement of Sector Scheme 8 and the Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS) stating the minimum underpinning knowledge that supports each onsite observed task for individual portfolio of evidence. It is also the benchmark for employee training that covers site disciplines within the highway electrical industry.
The Highway Electrical Association on behalf of its members invests in the continuing improvement of the Training Specification for the benefit of its Members and HERS registered organisations, and in doing so meets the requirements of the sector specific areas.
