HEA Annual Conference & Exhibition

HEA ACE 2026

ACE (Annual Conference & Exhibition) brings together service providers, electrical equipment manufacturers, consultants, contractors, local authority, central government and the next generation of the highway electrical industry.

The event provides an extremely valuable environment to discuss trends and developments in the highways industry, as well as networking with new and existing people.

The day will be formed of a conference of topical technical papers, an exhibition of HEA-HEMSA members & supporting organisations, and an awards gala dinner.

Smart. Sustainable. Connected.
The Future of Highway Electrical Infrastructure

Smart, sustainable, and connected highway electrical infrastructure is becoming a cornerstone of modern transport networks. As traffic volumes grow and environmental pressures intensify, highways are no longer passive assets but intelligent systems that sense, communicate, and adapt in real time. Smart lighting that responds to traffic and weather, connected power networks that enable remote monitoring, and integrated data platforms all help improve safety, reduce downtime, and optimise operational costs. By embedding intelligence into electrical infrastructure, road authorities gain clearer visibility of asset performance and can move from reactive maintenance to predictive, data‑driven decision‑making.

At the same time, sustainability is reshaping how highways are powered and managed. Energy efficient LEDs, renewable generation such as solar powered lighting columns, and infrastructure designed with whole life carbon in mind reduce environmental impact while increasing long term resilience. When combined with connected systems, these solutions support cleaner transport, enable future technologies such as electric vehicle charging and autonomous mobility, and ensure highways remain fit for purpose in a rapidly evolving world. The future of highway electrical infrastructure lies in this convergence of intelligence, sustainability, and connectivity; delivering safer roads, lower emissions, and more reliable networks for generations to come.
